Playing for Life Man V Horse Race

Playing for Life organised a special race with a difference at Limerick on October 10th.  We wanted to see if a Man can beat a Horse!

Inspired by the recent 'Weetabix' advert which I am sure you will have seen on TV, the basic premise will be to race an athlete against a racehorse over a short, sprint distance so we have Shane McGrath to race Beef or Salmon!

However, Beef Or Salmon's chances of bringing the 2011 Cheltenham Gold Cup to Limerick appear forlorn despite the chasing legend's return to 'racing' at Limerick.

The gelding, now a 14yo, was taking part in a novelty 200m Charity 'race' against Tipperary hurling star Shane McGrath but, as in his racing days, the handicapper always appeared to have his measure. Beef Or Salmon, under Timmy Murphy (on his only ride), failed to concede a 100 metre head-start to McGrath who never looked in danger of defeat and won eased down.
