Sakata Community Centre, Malawi

The Sakata Community Hall and Library outside Zomba, Malawi was built by Playing for Life in 2007. In 2008, we built school blocks at Namisonga Secondary School fitted out for Skills Training. In 2009 we are constructing more.  Tracy was invited to present the Graduation Certificates to the class of 2008.  The ceremony had been delayed because the block layers were too busy to attend! She asked one man to tell his story.

Playing for Life had sponsored his skills training at Sakata & when finished he moved back to his village outside Blantyre where he set up a carpentry workshop & got plenty of work. He was proud to say that he was supporting his sister who had lost her husband to Aids & was paying for her children’s education ensuring their future is not one of grinding poverty.

Playing for Life sponsors the various skills training of pupils through Vocational School & upon successfully graduating-they receive a set of tools which enable them to start work immediately.

Playing for Life has signed agreements with the Malawian Government & funds this programme through Irish Aid & you, the general public.
